S’asseoir sous un arbre

You see, you are not educated to be alone. Do you ever go out for a walk by yourself? It is very important to go out alone, to sit under a tree—not with a book, not with a companion, but by yourself—and observe the falling of a leaf, hear the lapping of the water, the fishermen’s song, watch the flight of a bird, and of your own thoughts as they chase each other across the space of your mind. If you are able to be alone and watch these things, then you will discover extraordinary riches which no government can tax, no human agency can corrupt, and which can never be destroyed.

Vous voyez, vous n’êtes pas éduqué pour être seul. Vous arrive-t-il de vous promener seul(e) ? Il est très important de sortir seul, de s’asseoir sous un arbre – pas avec un livre, pas avec un compagnon, mais seul – et d’observer la chute d’une feuille, d’entendre le clapotis de l’eau, le chant des pêcheurs, de regarder le vol d’un oiseau et de vos propres pensées alors qu’elles se poursuivent dans l’espace de votre esprit. Si vous êtes capable d’être seul et d’observer ces choses, alors vous découvrirez des richesses extraordinaires qu’aucun gouvernement ne peut taxer, qu’aucune agence humaine ne peut corrompre, et qui ne pourront jamais être détruites.
